Finding a Spot

Since I've moved back home, it's been a bit difficult trying to find places where I can successfully do some people-watching or find some vitality to suck osmosis-style. It's usually between the "local" Barnes & Noble or the local Borders. I usually go to Barnes and Noble because their cafe is usually fairly busy. Borders is usually deserted, but a few days ago I went and was pleasantly surprised to find a group of kids sitting near me that were doing their homework while their moms chatted about Boy Scouts. I didn't draw them, but their energy definitely got me going.

Here are some designs from that day. Some I took and cleaned up a bit more.

Business Card

Getting ready for CTN means re-vamping my business card. Well, it's not so much of a re-vamp. It's a bit simpler color and design-wise from my last card, and I've removed the title "Storyboard Artist" as I haven't any storyboarding work to show yet.

You know when you get on Photoshop at three in the morning and decide 'Yes, I will make something'? This was one of those times.

Animal Drawing and Workshop Classes

From my 2009 summer animal drawing course. I was really fortunate that we were able to go on location for a lot of these, including the Oakland Zoo and Six Flags Animal Kingdom. Of course, I did a lot of drawings at Animal Kingdom. You think I just went on roller coasters all day? (I wish) No, I get motion sickness.

From Quickstudies workshop. These poses range from 1-3 minutes each.

Concept sketches for my Intro to Storyboarding final. The prop was supposed to be a steampunk-inspired gun that shoots an energy drink.

Yes. At least to the steampunk. (I added the tag "steampunk" in hopes that I'll get to use it more than once.)

Last semester I was inspired to try my hand at watercolors. This is one of the first things I did (during class, shh!)

And since I haven't posted in "forever" (according to most), a small sketch dump. All from last semester.

I know you've been bugging me to put some of my art up, so here you go. A pretty koi tattoo that I designed as part of my Intermediate Anatomy final. This tattoo goes with an equally pretty geisha, whose appearance will make its debut sometime in the near future.

I really wish I hadn't done such a poor job on the scales. :\

And here's the line art for the geisha. I've got her colored, but she still needs a lot of cleanup.

Taken some time ago when i wanted lunch during breakfast time and happened to have some food in the fridge/freezer.

I wish i had had something to garnish the udon with. The gyoza had its sauce, but i didn't want to put it on just yet.
